Much Ado about life with Jack & Abby.

And the winner is…

Beach Babe, Linda, for her creative and fitting response to the “Name Jack’s Hairdo” contest.

“Since you asked, Jack looks like Cindy Lou Hoo
from The Grinch That Stole Christmas!”

Perhaps this explains why people continue to mistake Jack for a girl.

Usurping Holidays

Happy Chinese New Year.

Good friend Missy over at Yoga Village spends a great deal of time in Beijing these days. Though we miss her when she is abroad…especially now that she hangs her hat in PA…we are often the recipients of some awesome prezzies. I believe this ensemble was purchased before Jack was even born:

It seems fitting that he grew into it just in time for the new year. I suited him up when we returned from Tahoe and in celebration we headed out for an afternoon on the town. Where did we go, you ask? Chinese restaurant, of course, followed by the playground. I doubt there was anything authentic about this experience, but I tried.

Tahoe or bust!

Spent a lovely weekend in the mountains with Special K. We have the pleasure of occasionally escaping to their fantastic cabin retreat…an even more generous offer now that ”The Lope” is in the picture.  K finally got to test drive his Christmas present, a new snowboard while Jack and I did a little sledding in the backyard. Jack was lukewarm on the snow given its frigid temp and the fact that I kept trying to make him eat it:

We also had lots of quality time with Special K and super pup, Gobi. Before this weekend Jack was cautious with dogs (dubbed “woof woofs”), but the day after we returned from Tahoe he was running up to pups in the park assuming they are all as accomodating as his newfound best friend:

Future babysitter, perhaps?

You are the cutest cousin EVER!

Mama and I looked up a few photos from when I was 8 months old and guess what?!?!!? We are SOOOO much alike! We both liked our bouncey toys…

And we were both just a wee bit mischievous…

Looks like we are going to have lots of fun together over the next few years. It’s great to have a cousin so close in age. Can’t wait to see you again!

Love,
Jack   (15 months today)

Any questions?

February 13th, 2007

I’m not sure this was the answer…

…to the previously mentioned hair dilemma

I seriously don’t know how his hair even did this. He just woke up this morning with it.

Contest: Name Jack’s  New ‘Do

And while we are displaying photos that are sure to embarras Jack in the future, how about this one?granny-knees-for-web.JPG
Neither K nor I are laying claim to the granny knees, thank you very much.

And if that isn’t enough visual fun for one day, there are some new photos up on muchado.

Wanted in seven states?

Or just time for a trim?

That got your attention!

Hi everyone. Jack is doing much better. Posting the picture of the breathing machine garnered lots of responses both private and public. That kid is loved with a capital L. Thanks for all of your well wishes. Sorry if I frightened anyone…Jack is fine. He couldn’t shake a very slimy virus and it settled into his ears and chest. It took a couple of different antibiotics to quell the ear infection and the very scary, but quite useful, machine to help open up his airways so that he could breathe a bit easier. Apparently when little guys get that gunk in their chest, it presents a lot like asthma because there is not a lot of room in their airways to begin with. So he basically had a series of treatments similar to what a child with asthma would have to help open things up. The doctor doesn’t think that means he is prone to asthma or anything like that, which is a relief.

He’s already more alert. My mother used to say that she could always tell when I was feeling better because my complacent sick self was replaced with the healthy demanding self. This has proven true for Jack as well. ;-)

Instrument of Torture

I am pretty sure if you look in the fine print of the Geneva conventions definition of torture, you might find a description of this:

At the very least I can say that it fits the description of torture to a 14 month old. I would show you the breathing apparatus in all of its glory, but we have a very uncooperative model. It’s all hands on deck when administering the treatements every four to six hours. Good times here at the Cothenberg household indeed. We go back to the doctor again today in the hopes that the new round of antibiotics and this agony inflicting apparatus will have done the trick, because I miss the smiling, healthy and happy version of my little boy…

Bubonic plague

I think we have been hit with it. Yep, I am pretty sure. Or perhaps we’ve just been slimed!
